JOB TITLE: Technology Director,

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Prefer degree/certification in technology related field, educational environment  experience and familiarity with current and emerging technologies; experience in  internet, systems and network infrastructure. High level of interpersonal skills  with an emphasis on creativity, flexibility and cooperation. Ability to provide  emergency technology solutions while also maintaining long term stability.  

 

REPORTS TO: Superintendent 

 

SUPERVISES: Technology Assistant, if applicable 

 

POSITION GOAL: To provide technological leadership and educational support to staff and/or  students for all district computer and technology needs. 

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Hardware/Technology Support – all platforms, operating systems district-wide 

1) Provides maintenance and troubleshooting of district technology systems. 

2) Provides set-up, installation, and configuration of new systems including but not limited to wireless systems, servers, devices, phones, and computers. 

3) Researches and maintains awareness of cutting edge technology applications. 

4) Evaluates and recommends new products and the application to the District's needs. 

5) Orders and inventories new hardware as well as monitors budget items, as needed. 

6) Provides training for new systems. 

7) Supports installed networks, systems, and devices. 

8) Provides technical assistance to staff. 

9) Assure adequate backup and security for all sensitive data and systems. 

  1. Software Applications Support

1) Provides training for new software products/applications. 

2) Researches and maintains awareness of new software releases. 

3) Evaluates and recommends new products and the application to the District's needs. 

4) Receives requests for new software and evaluates/researches/orders. 

5) Keeps and updates inventory as needed. 

6) Assists with developing local uses of commercial software applications. 

  1. Educational Support 

1) Coordinates/conducts technology staff development activities as needed. 

2) Assists employees with general operation of computers and peripheral devices. 

3) Assists employees with evaluating and selecting hardware and software. 

  1. District Technology Planning

1) Participates on the district technology planning committee. 

2) Provides leadership and assists in developing/evaluating/revising a district-wide plan for instructional use of technology. 

3) Coordinates/integrates building plans with district wide technology plan. 

4) Provides leadership and assists in developing/evaluating/revising a district-wide plan for management applications.

5) Maintains standardization of hardware/software utilized district-wide. 

 

ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS: 

1) Withstands prolonged (over 50% of the time) standing and walking. 

2) Frequently (over 33% of the time) requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry or push  heavy (not over 50 pounds) objects or materials. 

3) Occasionally required physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry or push heavy objects weighing in  excess of 50 pounds. 

4) Ability to work cooperatively and constructively with others, including the ability to communicate effectively with a broad number of audiences. 

5) Ability to manage job responsibilities and meet the established district outcomes. 

6) Perform all other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and in accordance with the provisions of  the USD 377 Board of Education. 

7) Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent. 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Yearly contract, 12 months in length. Salary and work year to be established by the Board. 

 

EVALUATION: 

Completed by the Superintendent on an annual basis as per district practice with input from building  administration.
